POT Assignment 5.1: Written Instructional Material, Lesson Plan and Demonstration Plan
1. State some of the WIM (say 4) prepared by the Instructor.
The following are the W.I.M. prepared by the instructor for his own use to better presentation in the classroom and shop floor.
Lesson plan: A lesson plan is a detailed description of the course of instruction for an individual lesson related to theory prepared by an instructor for a specific duration of time.
Demonstration plan: A demonstration plan is a detailed description of a practical lesson or a skill prepared by an instructor for a specific duration of time.
Assignment sheet: The assignment sheet is prepared by an instructor and consists of objective and subjective type of questions given to the trainees to prepare and write exact answers by referring to the information or notes of a particular lesson.
Progress Chart: Formative information prepared for a teacher or a student which shows the progress of their tasks completed or yet to complete, the progress of teaching-learning activities. Student’s progress can be tracked by their monthly marks statement.
2. What are the points to be kept in mind while preparing instructional material?
The following are the important points for an instructor to keep in mind when preparing written instructional materials:
1. Use simple, direct, and easily understandable language to ensure clarity and comprehension.
2. Supplement written information with sketches or diagrams to enhance understanding.
3. Use an impressive layout to make the material visually appealing and easier to read.
4. Provide specific guidelines wherever necessary to ensure that the trainee knows exactly what is expected of them.
5. Limit the amount of information provided to only the essentials. 6. Provide questions that lead to the attainment of objectives.
7. Follow the syllabus and use titles that will cover the syllabus.
8. Provide references for additional studies if required.
9. Provide clear and specific objectives or learning outcomes to enable trainees to know what is expected of them at the end of each learning task.
These points will help instructors create effective instructional materials that will aid learners in achieving their learning goals.
