Comparison of the Transformational leadership style with other leadership styles:

  1. The autocratic or Authoritarian leadership style is characterized by a leader who makes decisions without consulting others. Autocratic leaders have complete control over their teams and may not give their subordinates much autonomy or freedom to make decisions.

  2. The paternalistic leadership style is characterized by a leader who acts as a father figure and takes care of their team like a family. Paternalistic leaders may make decisions for their team members and prioritize their well-being over productivity.

  3. Democratic or Participative leadership style is characterized by a leader who involves their team members in the decision-making process. Democratic leaders value the opinions and ideas of their subordinates and encourage them to participate in the decision-making process.

  4. The Laissez-Faire or Free-Rein leadership style is characterized by a leader who provides their team with maximum autonomy and freedom to make decisions. Laissez-Faire leaders give their team members the power to make decisions without much guidance or direction.

In contrast, Transformational leaders focus on inspiring and motivating their team to achieve their goals by creating a vision for the future and encouraging creativity and innovation.

They delegate tasks to their team and provide regular feedback and training to improve individual and team performance while also prioritizing productivity and also valuing their subordinates' opinions and ideas.

As Compared to  Laissez-Faire leaders, transformational leaders provide guidance and direction to their subordinates.
