  • Visual (written - printed - picture, graphics, symbols etc.)

  • Audiovisual (both sound and visual information - like motion pictures)

  • Communication can be classified as

    • One-way communication

    • Non - verbal communication

    • Interpersonal communication

    • Inter - communication

    • Intra - communication

  • Two-way communication is an effective communication method as it allows both parties to exchange information, provide feedback and understand each other's perspectives.

  • Verbal communication requires a common understanding of language, cultural context, and relationship dynamics, and can be further divided into formal and informal communication

  • Oral communication is quick and direct, allowing for immediate feedback, while written communication provides records and legal evidence, but lacks immediate feedback and the additional help of body language and tone of voice.

  • Overall, effective communication is essential for successful teaching and learning outcomes.

  1. To make classroom communication more effective what should the instructor ensure?

To make classroom communication more effective the instructor should ensure that the receiver (trainees)

  • Receives the message

  • Understands the message

  • Accepts/ assimilates the message

  • Uses/ applies the message

  • Gives the feedback.

This can be achieved through appropriate communication channels and methods, clear and concise language, an engaging learning environment, hands-on learning opportunities, and encouraging feedback and reflection from the trainees.

By focusing on these areas, classroom communication can be more effective, leading to better learning outcomes and a more positive classroom environment.

  1. List out 7Cs of communication.

The 7Cs of communication are a set of principles to follow in order to ensure effective communication. These principles include:

1. Clear: Use short, familiar, and conversational words, and construct effective sentences using simple language.

2. Complete: Answer all questions, give examples, and use illustrative visual aids. Check for the 5W's and 1H’s (What, Why, When, Which, Who, How).

3. Correct: Use the correct level of language, relevant figures, and avoid using communal, religious, or regional matters.

4. Concise (Brief): Omit confusing messages, avoid unnecessary repetition, and include only related facts. Organize for maximum effectiveness.

5. Courteous: Be sincere, appreciative, tactful, and thankful. Omit irritating words that may hurt others.

6. Concrete: Use specific facts and figures, put action into verbal communication, and choose image-building words. Grant and apologize when necessary.

7. Candid: Feel free to speak and be frank in accepting the trainee's viewpoint.

By following these principles, individuals can ensure that their communication is effective, clear, and easily understood by others. This can help to avoid misunderstandings and ensure that the message is received as intended.

2. Critical (Evaluative) Listening: This type of listening involves evaluating the message and thinking critically to form opinions or make decisions. It often occurs during job interviews, debates, or when analyzing persuasive messages.

3. Appreciative (Aesthetic) Listening: This type of listening is for pleasure and enjoyment, such as listening to music or attending a concert.

4. Therapeutic (Empathetic) Listening: This type of listening involves being attentive and empathetic when listening to someone else's problems. It's an essential component of interpersonal relationships and allows individuals to connect on a deeper level.
